About China Healthcare Info

Who writes these guides, who they're for, and how to reach us.

China Healthcare Info publishes practical guides for foreigners who need medical care in mainland China — international visitors, people travelling for planned treatment or health checks, and expatriates living in the country.

China has some of the busiest and most capable hospitals in the world, but the system works differently from what most visitors expect. There's no family-doctor referral, payment happens step by step, and most signs and staff use Mandarin only. These guides explain how it works, in plain English, so you can make decisions quickly when it matters.

How the guides are written

Every guide:

  • starts with a short answer, so you get the essentials in seconds;
  • lists key facts you can check at a glance;
  • links to its sources;
  • shows the date it was last reviewed.

Guides are also published as plain Markdown, and the whole site is indexed in llms.txt, so AI assistants can read and cite them accurately. Read the editorial policy for how content is researched and kept up to date.

What this site isn't

These guides are general information, not medical advice. They can't diagnose a condition or recommend treatment for you. In an emergency in mainland China, call 120.
